Bathing with dog at the Attersee

There are several places by the Lake Attersee where dogs are allowed to swim too. Generally, the leading of dogs in lidos as well as in the bathing areas within the municipal boundaries is prohibited. In public facilities and parks dogs have to be kept on leash.

Possible bathing ares for dogs are:

  • between the local area Schörfling and Weyregg
  • between the local area Weyregg and Steinbach
  • between Seefeld and Steinbach
  • between Steinbach and Unterach
  • at the promenade Schörfling/Seewalchen
  • in the Weißenbachtal-valley

Pay attention to mutual consideration for a harmonious coexistence.

Tips for better dog-human interaction

  1. Dog waste bags are mandatory
The dog's droppings must be removed.

  2. Jumping on dogs is a no-go!
Dirty paw prints on your trousers are not everyone's cup of tea and some people are afraid of dogs. So: please tame all boisterous balls of fur.

  3. No begging
Make sure that your dog does not beg or bark at other visitors.

  4. Keep a healthy distance from joggers and cyclists
Some joggers and cyclists have had bad experiences with dogs. Therefore, always keep dogs on a lead until the object of interest is out of sight.

  5. Show consideration for anxious people
If the person in front of you feels visibly uncomfortable or even stops, stop or politely change sides of the road.

  6. Do not touch other people's dogs without asking
Always ask the other person's permission first.

  7. Dogsmust be kept on a lead
There is usually a good reason for keeping dogs on a lead, for example on public transport, in the city or in the forest, where wild animals need to be protected.

Every dog owner must ensure that no one feels disturbed or afraid.
