Frankenmarkt

Frankenmarkt, Oberösterreich, Österreich
The historical village Frankenmarkt in the western part of Upper Austria lies in a beautiful, wide valley characterised by green meadows and pastures and next to the river Vöckla. Frankenmarkt is a small market town dating back to the 11th century. It consists of 23 tiny hamlets which have maintained their small structures and organisational setup but which at the same time, have adapted to the modern times. Our guests are invited to visit some really interesting local businesses ranging from organic farming to the cultivation of roses without pesticides all the way to the chocolate manufacturer Frucht & Sinne, wellknown in all of Austria.

Frankenmarkt offers a variety of specialities and looks back on a long tradition. Do not miss the late-gothic church dedicated to Saint Nicolas, the museum in the recently renovated Schloss Stauff castle as well as the palace nativity set from the workshop of the famous wood carver Meinrad Guggenbichler.

Another asset of Frankenmarkt is its focus on sports. The town provides both a tennis and beach volleyball court flood-lit with LED technology. There is also a lane for stock sports, a type of curling on either ice or asphalt, and many hiking trails around Frankenmarkt. Another highlight is the trekking circuit through the beautiful scenery of the Alpenvorland, the foothills of the Alps, situated between the Kobernaußerwald forest and the lakes of the Salzkammergut region
