Berg im Attergau

St. Georgen im Attergau, Oberösterreich, Österreich
The quiet village with the holiday resort Hipping If you would like to spend a peaceful holiday in the country, amidst beautiful scenery and surrounded by sociable people, Berg im Attergau is the place to go. The quiet village consists of 16 hamlets and is ideal for relaxation and recreation.

The centre of touristic activities is the resort Hipping im Attergau. Even though you will find some of the largest hotels of the Salzkammergut region here and even if it has become an attractive destination especially for coach groups, the village sticks to a gentle, sustainable tourism philosophy. The old advertising slogan of the resort ‘Hipping am See’ not only caused quite some commotion, it also became part of regional history. Even if you cannot see the lake from Hipping, the slogan contained a grain of truth: The municipal territory of Berg im Attergau does border the lake on a stretch of 200 meters.

Every 5 years, the hamlet Eggenberg hosts the largest Scout camp in Austria, welcoming about 5,000 participants from 19 different countries at this international event. In the 1970s, a farmer discovered three tumuli and conducted excavations. On the basis of these finds, the Celtic heritage trail Kelten.Baum.Weg on Koglberg hill was developed. The finds are now displayed at the local heritage museum Haus der Kultur.
