The task of the ÖWR is - according to the statutes - exclusively and directly the creation and promotion of all measures and facilities that serve to combat and prevent drowning death. In particular, this is the teaching of swimming lessons for beginners and advanced swimmers as a preventive task against drowning death, the instruction and training in life-saving swimming, diving, rescue diving and in the driving of rowing and motor boats, in standing and flowing waters (if regionally required also under white water conditions), as well as the care for the training of ÖWR emergency forces and other organisatio
