HISTORICAL FINDING

The milestone was found on 6 December 1865 near Mösendorf at the so-called "Burgstall", probably a former Roman settlement around a road fort, under wall rubble together with Roman coins and a large quantity of animal bones.

This stone marked the distance of 31 miles from Bon Juvavum (Salzburg). It was placed in 201 after the turn of the century, when Lucius Septimius Severus was Roman emperor. This stone proves that the Roman road from Juvavum to Lauriacum (Lorch near Enns) passed near Vöcklamarkt. One Roman mile corresponds to a length of 1480 metres. The distance of the milestone is therefore 46 kilometres. A milestone with the same inscription was also found on the road from Klagenfurt to Völkermarkt in Carinthia.

From the west - Bad Ischl - Weißenbachtal (B153) - continue on B152 to Unterach - then on B151 to Attersee- continue on L540 via St. Georgen im Attergau to Vöcklamarkt

By train:
Coming from Salzburg or Linz/Vienna with the "Österreichische Bundesbahnen" or the "Westbahn" to Attnang-Puchheim, continue with the regional train to Vöcklamarkt.

Plane:
Arrival in Salzburg or Linz/Vienna, continue by car/bus or train.
