Walk in the footsteps of famous artists ...

No other lake region in Austria has attracted such an important number of famous and diverse artists like Lake Attersee. Dedicated theme paths were established to honour their memory in the Attersee- Attergau region. 

Gustav Mahler, Friedrich Gulda, Franz von Schönthan, Charlotte Wolter, Hedwig Bleibtreu, Gustav Klimt – they all drew inspiration from Lake Attersee.

The Gustav Klimt artist trail takes us on a journey in the footsteps of one of the most important Austrian Art Nouveau artists. Walking along the Künstlerweg (artist trail) in Steinbach am Attersee, you will meet not only Gustav Klimt, but several other illustrious personalities and artists who not only felt inspired by but also left their marks in the Attersee-Attergau region. Some of them were also laid to rest here.
