Ice diving

Diving in the middle of winter sounds quite exotic. In fact, it is becoming more and more popular.

The dive sites aren’t crowded anymore; the underwater world is crystal clear and the visibility is simply breathtaking.

Diving in ice cold water without freezing? Yes. With appropriate equipment suitable for cold water and a dry suit everyone can enjoy diving in winter. Dry suit diving is demanding when it comes to buoyancy control and you should consider special training. You can rent or buy suitable cold water equipment and dry suits at the dive centers at Lake Attersee.

Ice diving is one of the biggest challenges for divers. Therefore, planning the dive accurately and safety is very important. The thrill of not being able to surface at any time and the bizarre underwater world guarantee a memorable adventure.
