Barrow Baumer Holz
The investigated barrow in Baumer Holz, municipality of Seewalchen am Attersee, could be dated to around 450 BC. On the basis of the pottery finds, the grave can be assigned to the La Tène period (younger Iron Age). So far, it is the first barrow from this period to be discovered and investigated in Upper Austria. Besides an abundance of pottery fragments, a well-preserved decorated conical neck vessel and a beautifully decorated omphalos bowl were found. Two small bronze brooches were discovered as jewellery. An iron spearhead was excavated in the grave fill alongside objects from the Neolithic period.
