They can be found in front of the municipal office in Attersee am Attersee, in the centre of Weyregg or at many private homes around the Attersee: The Attersee Christmas angels.
For more than 10 years, they have been a shining ambassador in the Attersee-Attergau region during the Advent season. The largest of them is the "Unterach Christmas Angel on the Lake".
It floats 11.8 metres high during the Advent season directly on Lake Attersee, at the landing stage in Unterach am Attersee, and can be seen from afar.

Since December 2006, the 11.8 metre high Christmas angel "Aloysius" can be found during the winter months directly at the boat landing stage in Unterach. It is a unique Advent symbol on Lake Attersee and a much-visited landmark. The Christmas angel invites you to reflect, be grateful and think of others, especially during Advent.
Each angel is a genuine piece of handicraft and is made with great attention to detail.

In Unterach, the angel is festively illuminated from the 1st Sunday in Advent until the beginning of January.

History:

The idea of the Christmas angel came from Hödlmoser himself. After a Christmas meeting and a few sleepless nights, the tinsmith and roofer from Unterach am Attersee came up with the idea. In autumn 2006, the first sketches and models were created, which met with immediate approval. The "Unteracher Engel" was financed by the municipality of Unterach and the Auersperg-Breunner family.

"It took more than 150 hours of work to make, including 136 metres of shaped tube and just as many LED light tubes," says Rudolf Hödlmoser.
He was actively supported in the work by Bruno Loindl.
"Aloysius is very popular. Some angels have even made their way to Germany, Italy and even Norway."

Since December 2006, the floating Christmas angel has been a unique symbol of Advent on Lake Attersee and a much-visited landmark. The Christmas angel invites you to reflect, to be grateful and to think of others, especially during Advent, in the spirit of the donors - the municipality of Unterach and the Auersperg-Breunner family.

The illumination of the angel "Aloysius" at the beginning of December has been a highlight of the charity Christmas market in Unterach for many years, with the proceeds being donated to a good cause. The special angel is named after Elisabeth Auersperg-Breunner.
