In October, everything in Unterach revolves around the sweet chestnut, which is a special feature of the region at the southern end of Lake Attersee. What makes it unique is that in no other area north of the Alps, do the chestnut reach full maturity, except here in Unterach, in the beautiful Salzkammergut.

At the chestnut festival Unteracher restaurateurs and clubs, present delicacies around the chestnut. From chestnut meat pockets, over chestnuts in the bacon coat up to sweet of the chestnut - from this noble chestnut so many culinary delights can be conjured. The offer is rounded off by fine chestnut beer and liquer.

Also the musical benefit does not come too briefly. There will be an extensive musical program in various styles such as choir singing, Tanzlmusi, country music and Austropop!

And so that the culinary pleasures do not hit the hips too much, one can connect the celebration with a walk by the noble chestnut forest up to the anniversary tree. This was planted on the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of the reign of Emperor Franz Josef on 18 August 1908.
