Timpani and splendor - festive concert at Kammer Castle
BACH AM ATTERSEE
Saturday, August 8, 2026, 7:00 p.m.
Kammer Castle, Schörfling am Attersee
With music by Biber, Beer and Bach, a festive concert of extraordinary dramaturgical tension unfolds at Schloss Kammer: an evening that makes baroque soundscapes between scenes of war, lamentation and triumphant festivity audible. Biber's famous Battalia paints a powerful, almost theatrical picture of sound full of rhythmic acuity and instrumental surprises. Johann Beer responds to this with his soldier's lament "Nulla salus bello", a haunting miniature about the hopelessness of war.
With the serenade "Der Nachtwächter", Biber opens up a different view of the world: a nocturnal panorama piece full of fine colors, quiet lines of humor and baroque liveliness - an atmospheric resting point between the great affects. Bach's cantatas finally lead the evening into the light: festive sound gestures, pulsating rhythms and the unmistakable radiance with which Bach shapes musical solemnity.
Supported by the Wiener Akademie Orchestra under Martin Haselböck and an excellent ensemble of soloists, Schloss Kammer becomes a resonating chamber of Baroque energy - an evening full of timpani, splendor and musical depth.
