Steinbach am Attersee is celebrating a double anniversary with the official opening of the 10th Gustav Mahler Festival: 130 years after the composition of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 3, the work is the focus of a festival week dedicated to "Mahler's Universe".
The anniversary festival will be officially opened at the historic composer's cottage, a central location of Mahler's creative period - as a prelude to concerts, talks, cultural and nature experiences along Lake Attersee.
At the same time, this year's special exhibition on the festival theme, curated by internationally renowned Mahler expert and festival director Morten Solvik, will be presented for the first time.
