On June 28, 2026, the idyllic setting of Steinbach am Attersee will serve as the stage for a musical event of extraordinary cultural significance:
We can look forward to a concert in a class of its own featuring the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, one of Central Europe’s leading orchestras, under the outstanding baton of Principal Conductor Markus Poschner.

130 years after its composition, Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3—which was composed here in the small “composer’s cottage” on the lakeshore and is today considered one of the most monumental and visionary works in music history—will be performed for the first time at the very place where it was created.

The summers of 1895 and 1896 were the period during which Mahler pushed forward and completed the work on his Third Symphony, which he had begun in 1892—in his composer’s cottage at the concert venue in Steinbach am Attersee. He was likely referring to these summers, among other things, when he wrote to the singer Anna Bahr-Mildenburg about his work: “All of nature finds a voice in it and reveals such deeply hidden secrets that one might only sense them in a dream!” It is also a dream come true to experience this symphony at its place of origin with the Bruckner Orchestra Linz under the baton of principal conductor Markus Poschner.

A historic event for Mahler fans from all over the world!
