With Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Schumann, the Vienna Philharmonia Trio dedicates itself to a core repertoire of Romantic chamber music.

Beethoven's Piano Trio in B flat major op. 11 opens the evening with noblesse and cheerful serenity. Originally also intended in a version with clarinet, the work retains a special flexibility of tone.
With Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor op. 49, the program enters a different sphere. The famous Scherzo floats along with the elfish lightness that makes Mendelssohn's music unmistakable; the Andante opens up a space of intimate cantabile.
Robert Schumann's Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor op. 63 forms the passionate antithesis and climax of the evening. The movement titles alone - "With energy and passion", "Slowly, with inner feeling", "With fire" - point to an inner world in which form and feeling become inseparable.

An evening for lovers of sophisticated chamber music - in an atmospheric setting and with outstanding instrumentation.
