Ornithological excursion throughout the year

Lake Attersee, nestled in a picturesque landscape of meadows and forests, is a true paradise for birdwatching. The diverse habitats around the lake offer numerous bird species ideal conditions for wintering, resting, hunting and breeding. The eastern shore of Lake Attersee in particular is a hotspot for ornithological excursions, where you can discover an impressive variety of water, meadow and forest birds.
We look for ducks, divers and gulls along the lakeshore. We then walk along the hiking trail into a wooded area and hope to see woodpeckers, tits etc. On the way there, we may even be lucky enough to find a grey wagtail, a kingfisher or a dipper along the stream.
Depending on the time of year, we look for different things. In the cold season, we focus primarily on the large number of water birds and hope to spot real rarities such as the horned grebe. In the warmer months, we concentrate more on the songs of the many forest and meadow birds. In any case, this excursion offers exciting observations at any time of year and real sensations such as a sighting of a white-tailed eagle in February 2025.
Whether you are an experienced ornithologist or a curious nature lover, birdwatching at Lake Attersee promises exciting discoveries and unforgettable moments in the midst of a breathtaking landscape.
