11th Gustav Mahler Festival in Steinbach am Attersee: Mahler’s Beethoven
The 2027 Gustav Mahler Festival in Steinbach am Attersee will take place from June 28 to July 4, 2027.

The 2027 Gustav Mahler Festival is dedicated to the diverse musical, cultural, and personal connections between Gustav Mahler and Ludwig van Beethoven. Mahler revered Beethoven as an outstanding pioneer and saw it as his mission to carry on Beethoven’s symphonic legacy. To mark the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death, the festival will highlight this special connection.

The Gustav Mahler Festival takes place annually in Steinbach am Attersee, featuring several concerts and a diverse supporting program.
Gustav Mahler composed two symphonies and half a dozen songs in Steinbach am Attersee over the course of four summers.
To this end, the composer even had his own composing cottage built in 1894 on the meadow by the lake, which can still be visited today.
