Room of encounter
In the middle of the village centre of Straß in Attergau, a special wooden building has been erected in recent years. The Chapel of the Resurrection now stands along the edge of an old gravel pit.It was built by 6 families who joined together to form an association, with a lot of their own funds and own contributions.
The concrete foundation sits on the foothills of a hill and the building blends in perfectly with its surroundings. On the street side, the meadow grows almost up to the walls. In the entrance area, a ripped conglomerate rock opens up and stands protectively against the weather side.
The façade is made of untreated fir wood.
The crouched entrance area leads into the high, spruce-lined interior. It excludes distractions from outside. The altar is in the middle of the long side. The windows direct the view upwards. There, the light refracts as in a crystal.
The only decoration is a cross and the figure of a man of pain, the "Kreuzer Herrgott".
The chapel is an escape from the darkness, the earthiness, into the hopeful crossroads to which a human life is exposed.
