Reinthaller Moos

Attersee am Attersee, Oberösterreich, Österreich

A 2 hectare tufa fen is at the centre of this area.

The emersion of highly calcareous water results in the formation of tufa - for Upper Austrian levels at an exceptional scale. Vegetation is characterized by the black bog-rush, one of the rarest plant species in our region, but also tofieldia, epipactis and willow gentian.

On a relatively small surface, alkaline and more acidic micro-biotopes can be observed with their typical indicators for acidity like the common haircap moss, sundews, heather and blackberry bushes.
