The Weyregg Aquarium was created in 2003 and is now a popular meeting place for those interested in the underwater world of Lake Attersee, the various fish species in Lake Attersee and the European Protected Area of Lake Mondsee and Lake Attersee.

The aquarium, with a length of 4.5 meters and 9,000 liters of water capacity, becomes an experience for young and old through information boards and short films!
The Aquarium:
Information about the underwater world in the Attersee, can be seen not only when diving in the Attersee, but can also be experienced up close at the 4.5 meter long and 9,000 liter aquarium in Weyregg am Attersee. The aquarium shows numerous Attersee fish such as pike, pearlfish, perch, bleak, lake trout, roach or rudd. The near-natural lake landscape in Weyregg is supplied with sufficient fresh Attersee water by a lake water pipe.

The location of the aquarium:
The aquarium is located in Weyregg directly next to the music pavilion. On display boards the formation of the Attersee, the European protected area and the fish species are presented. In addition, interesting short films on topics related to Lake Attersee are shown on a terminal in the music pavilion. It is definitely worthwhile to visit the Attersee Aquarium in Weyregg and enjoy the culinary offerings in the area. The gastronomic offer in Weyregg can be found here.

History of origins:
In addition to the fish species in Lake Attersee and the underwater world, information is also provided about the European Protected Area Mondsee and Attersee. (Natura 2000)
The aquarium was created by the Leader project "Atterquarium" and the Bundesrealgymnasium Vöcklabruck in 2002 and 2003 respectively. The multimale preparation, the information and recreation area was designed by the diligent students under the direction of Dr. Roman Auer. In 2010, then worked on a redesign and especially the Natura 2000 project was observed.

European protected area:
As already mentioned, the location of the Weyregg Aquarium also provides information about the European Protected Area Mondsee and Attersee. The main goal is the protection of endangered animal and plant species. This also includes two special fish species in Lake Attersee. Namely the pearl fish, the sea dove and also the plant species "starry algae".  More information about the European nature reserve can be found here.
