Everything to do with boats

Lake Attersee is a popular destination for boaters: whether by motorboat, sailing boat or simply by pedalo. Certain rules must be adhered to in order to take all bathers into consideration.

At the same time, there are numerous services for your boat: Does your sailing boat need a new sail? Do you need someone to set your buoy? Would you like to launch your boat? Do you need a berth? We have summarised all the contact points for you.

Sailing with the Rosenwind

Lake Attersee is not only home to Austria's oldest sailing club, the Union Yacht Club Attersee, but there are yacht and sailing clubs in all the towns around the lake that keep the long tradition of sailing on Lake Attersee active and alive.

Do you want to get your sailing licence? No problem! Our sailing schools are the right place for you. If you get hungry during your sailing trip, simply moor up at one of our restaurants with a public or private jetty and treat yourself to a meal.

Anchor-free protection zones in Lake Attersee

The anchor-free zones are marked in red on the detailed map of Lake Attersee.

People have lived in pile-dwelling settlements on the shore since the Neolithic Age. On the shores of Lake Attersee, the prehistoric village ruins in the lake bed have been surprisingly well preserved. Anchoring in these areas destroys the pile dwellings, which are over 6000 years old.

An anchor of any size digs into the ground and the anchor chain abrades the surface of the lake bed. Destruction caused by anchors is clearly evident in the annual inspections of the sites.

In 2016, the BH Vöcklabruck issued an "Ordinance regarding the prevention of dangers to the pile-dwelling stations in the Attersee anchor ban", which prohibits anchoring and dragging chains in these areas.
