The location for the interview and shooting was the Schloss Kogl of the Mayr-Melnhof family in St. Georgen im Attergau. In the past, we made many long-distance trips and travelled the world - today, people come to us from all over the world, sometimes several times a year. Regular guests quickly become friends. HANNELORE REICHL From the organic farm "Haslbauer" in Steinbach am Attersee ![](https://attersee-attergau.salzkammergut.at/fileadmin/_processed_/a/4/csm_KHP_TVB_Privatzimmervermieterinnen_Hannelore-2_1ad76275b1.jpg) HANNELORE REICHL ----------------- ### From the organic farm "Haslbauer" in Steinbach am Attersee Hannelore actually studied international business administration in Vienna and then worked for a well-known car leasing bank for 13 years. She quit her job in the middle of the corona pandemic and, since the birth of her second daughter, she and her partner Johann have been running their joint organic farm with a suckler cow farm and five holiday flats, which were built by her parents-in-law. They get support from their grandmothers and sister-in-law in looking after the children and cleaning the holiday flats. The whole family helps together and everyone has their own area of responsibility. For Hannelore, the fact that the children can be looked after at home on the farm is also a huge advantage. Sunday is also family day. If possible, there is no simultaneous departure and arrival on this day, so that there is enough time for the family. Hannelore also consciously takes a lot of time for the guests. They spend evenings together in the garden, exchange travel anecdotes and celebrate anniversaries of regular guests. Like the 45th anniversary of regular guests from Germany, who usually come to her farm twice a year for a good two weeks each time. Everyone should feel as comfortable and at home on our farm as we do. It is all the nicer when guests become regulars. For me, that is a nice confirmation that all the work is worth it. BARBARA SCHERNTHANER Runs the organic farm "Madlinger Hof" in Unterach am Attersee since 2012 I don't think there will come a time when you say, 'This is how it is, this is how it will stay, this is how it should be'. Everything is always evolving, and so is our industry. Here, as probably everywhere in life, you never stop learning. TANJA WALKNER Runs a total of three businesses, including the "See-Buffet" and the "Haus Weyregg" on Lake Attersee ![](https://attersee-attergau.salzkammergut.at/fileadmin/_processed_/1/0/csm_KHP_TVB_Privatzimmervermieterinnen_Tanja-1_b97156bed9.jpg) TANJA WALKNER ------------- ### Runs a total of three businesses, including the "See-Buffet" and the "Haus Weyregg" on Lake Attersee Together with her husband Norbert, Tanja runs the "See-Buffet" at the Landesbadeplatz Weyregg in the summer months, the "Gasthaus Alpenblick" in Krispl in Salzburgerland in the winter months and, since 2021, the "Haus Weyregg", the former primary schools in Weyregg, which has now been converted into a family bed and breakfast. In order for the work-life balance to work, a flexible daily schedule is essential for Tanja. The two children go to school in Krispl, which means a lot of commuting in spring and autumn, but the children have a ski lift in winter and Lake Attersee on their doorstep in summer, both of which they enjoy very much. Tanja usually does office work in the evening. In addition, she does voluntary work for the Weyregg Tourism Association, which always provides opportunities for cooperation with other businesses that are very important to Tanja. No guesthouse, hotel or inn can make a holiday worthwhile for guests on its own. This is only possible in cooperation. When time allows, I sit in the hanging chair under the walnut tree and enjoy my beautiful garden. My husband works as a construction manager, does the janitorial work after work and helps with the laundry. When the children were small, my mother and mother-in-law were a great help to me. GERLINDE HOLZAPFEL Hostess of the "Pension Holzapfel" in St. Georgen im Attergau GERLINDE HOLZAPFEL ------------------- ### Hostess of the "Pension Holzapfel" in St. Georgen im Attergau For Gerlinde, this year marks the 19th season of her bed and breakfast. The business is open all year round and is already run by the third generation. Guests appreciate the quiet, central location in St. Georgen im Attergau and enjoy the flower garden and children's playground. Gerlinde likes to spoil her guests with a varied breakfast buffet and occasionally organises short hikes or excursions to the surrounding cider taverns. Such evenings remain in the memory and give the mother of four strength for the intense summer months. Gerlinde also recharges her batteries in the summer by swimming in the Attersee in the evenings and cycling in between. Gerlinde also gets energetic support from her husband, who helps out diligently after work and at the weekends. So there is also time for a for a leisurely Sunday outing as a family or for an enjoyable dinner as a couple. PATRIZIA SCHNEEBAUER Hostess and young baker of the "Weslhof" in Attersee am Attersee PATRIZIA SCHNEEBAUER Hostess and young baker of the "Weslhof" in Attersee am Attersee ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the beginning of 2021, Patrizia and her husband took over the organic "Weslhof" from her parents-in-law and swapped their office job for the farm. It all started seven years ago with the course "Suddenly a Farmer's Wife", followed by many other courses and seminars. In addition to renting out the holiday flats as part of "farm holidays", the mother of two is now also responsible for keeping suckler cows, keeping laying hens in mobile barns and marketing the farm products directly in her own farm shop. Patrizia's and her husband's guests are also delighted with the new farm products, which they can enjoy on site or take home as souvenirs. What's great about being a hostess for Patrizia? The shining children's eyes when feeding the animals and jumping on the straw, the interested questions of the guests about the farm, returning regular guests and of course "the life" that the guests bring to the farm.
