With a lot of heart, personal dedication, and culinary specialties, Hans and Sabine Lugstein have shaped the restaurant over many years. **There’s still time to enjoy the cozy atmosphere and cuisine of the 1er Beisl.** At the end of 2026, Hans and Sabine Lugstein will close the restaurant and step back from day-to-day operations to spend more time with their family in the future. So please take this opportunity for one **last cozy visit and culinary delight at the 1er Beisl** before its doors close at the end of the year. We arrive on a sunny spring day and opt for the airy terrace over the cozy dining room. The young server is friendly and attentive, and the appetizer—featuring delicious Liptauer, smoky Verhackert, and a slice of Duroc bacon—is promising. The **beef soup with herb fritters** is impeccable. The **Innviertel-style pork crackling dumplings are small** and made with flour dough, just as they should be; the baked sauerkraut on top of the salad is a nice, if optional, course. The quail breasts were melt-in-your-mouth tender, the fennel was braised to perfection, and the celery cream was a delight, as was the aromatic gravy. The pink-roasted **veal afelspitz with mashed potatoes and a delicate green wild garlic foam** is a feast for both the eyes and the palate **.** This showcases the skill of owner Hans Lugstein, who learned his craft from the legendary Karl Eschlböck and continues to cook with seemingly undiminished passion. The **vanilla crème brûlée with** raspberries and chocolate ice cream is also worth indulging in, as is the white chocolate mousse with tonka bean and rum-soaked plums.
