The last runner turns off the light!
Backyard Ultra is a very popular ultrarunning mode worldwide. Not the fastest runners win, but those who can enjoy the event the longest. Last Wo(man) Standing.
Only the last person on the course wins. Everyone else gets a DNF!
The original Big Dog's Backyard Ultra is always held in October in Tennessee, USA and is very popular in the ultra running scene.

What is a Backyard Ultra?

A lap of 6.706 kilometers (= 4.167 miles) is run. 24 laps are equal to 100 miles.
Every hour all runners start a new lap. If you do not finish the lap in time and are back at the start, you are out! No late start! Very easy!
Start signal is at 3, 2 or 1 minute before the start. You will learn to hate the signal.
How you do the 6.7 km is up to you, as long as you use your own strength to get around on your legs and hands. No aids are allowed (including trekking poles)!
No personal assistance or support on the course.
Slower runners must let faster runners pass.
Leaving the course is prohibited.
Mandatory equipment: a headlamp at night
The race ends only when there is no runner left on the track. => open end
If the runner-up is eliminated, the winner must have completed one more full lap. All other runners have a "DNF".

Friday, 23.06.2023:

17:00: Welcome-Party

Saturday, 24.06.2023:
07:00 to 08:30: Start number collection
09:00: START Austria Backyard Ultra Frankenmarkt
09:00: START Youth Backyard
13:30: START Bambini- and Kids Backyard
16:00: Award ceremony children and youth backyard

Musical accompaniment and moderation from 07:00 to 20:00 each day
Morning pub Sunday, 25.06.2023 from 09:00 a.m. onwards

There will be no award ceremony. Prize giving and presentation of the DNF medal will take place immediately after the DNF of the runner.

DNF of the runners: If you are more drawn to the gastro instead of the start line, you have to sign out independently at the orga, hand in the timing chip and get your personal DNF medal.

With our BE SAFE - Option for € 5,- you can play it safe! Cancel until 24.05.2023 without giving any reason and get your entry fee back.

An early closing of the registration is possible at any time if the starter contingent is reached.
