Ilija Trojanow, born in 1965, was born in Sofia. His family fled via Yugoslavia and Italy to Germany, where she received political asylum. Trojanow lived among others in Nairobi, Paris, Munich, Mumbai, Cape Town, Mainz and today in Vienna.
Numerous belletristic and essayistic publications, u. a.: "The World Collector", Roman, Hanser, Munich 2006; "The superfluous man", Residenz, St. Pölten 2013; "After the escape", S. Fischer, Frankfurt a. Main 2018; Prices: Last: Heinrich Böll Prize of the City of Cologne 2017; Honorary Prize of the Austrian Book Trade for Tolerance in Thinking and Action 2018.
Ilija Trojanow is one of the supporters of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union and has been a member of the presidency of the PEN Center Germany since 2017
