The damaged roof could no longer withstand the winter and had collapsed. For many years, the battered construction was in ruins. The authorities asked for the building to either be torn down or restored. The association for the embellishment of the community decided to renovate. For several months, the first task consisted in disposing of rotten hay, mixed with roof tiles and masonry. A group of fit pensioners took care of this. Next, the collapsed roof construction had to be replaced by a new one. Quite a few solid square metres of construction wood were necessary for a house length of 34 m. Two weeks later, the roof was back in shape. Thanks to the location just across the street from the sawmill Riedl, supply problems were not to be worried about. The living area had also partially collapsed, and floors and ceilings had to be redone. The ceilings were bolted together with the outside walls. Now, reconstruction could be continued inside. A hall for all kinds of events was created which is officially licensed for up to 200 people. The formerly fit groups of pensioners began to slow down and some of the work was taken over by other associations (Alpenverien, volunteer fire-fighters). In 2002, Johann Schinkowitsch took over as chairman of the association for the embellishment of the community and has been presiding the organisation ever since. He has personally invested about 9,000 hours of work and EUR 200,000 to 250,000 into the Poinerhaus from its aquisition until today. site of beautification club as he does to this day. And looking at the result, every hour and every Euro was well spent! The Poinerhaus is availble for use for different associations and clubs and it is open to the public. The cultural association 'KultURkraft' has made the Poinerhaus known in Austria. Many artists and celebrities such as - Maresa Hoerbiger, Katharina Stemberger, Echerer, Karlheinz Hackl, French Connection, Jessie Ann, the Seeleiten choir, the Boandlkramer, the theatre ensemble Kellertheater Linz, the "Gichtis" with Dr. Kowald - to name a few, have enjoyed the Poinerhaus atmosphere. To carry out such a project, one depends a lot on public funding and donations. The market town Schörfling am Attersee and the department of culture of the feederal province of Upper Austria - have provided very helpful support. But also the membership fees and donations, as well as the support provided by local business owners, who always have an open ear are worth mentioning and finally the "Glöcklerlauf". In the future, the Poinerhaus could also function as "Gloeckler museum," with the caps stored and exhibited to the public on the second floor. Now, maybe you would like to enjoy an event at the Poinerhaus yourself. It really is worth a visit. And who knows, you may even organise an event yourself and look for a location for so many guests?
