Enjoy the world heritage side of Hallstatt, the emperor city of Bad Ischl or a boad trip on one of the lakes. What could be more enjoyable than biking on the shore paths of the lakes and to let the soul 'flow' in a wonderfully unspoilt countryside? A tour through the Salzkammergut shows you the World Heritage Side of Hallstatt, the Emperor city of Bad Ischl and wonderful lakes. Have you ever heart of Sound of Music? Well on this tour you will see the wedding church in Mondsee and wonderful views over the lakes and mountains which you also see in the movie. A wonderful cycle tour will be in the Ausseerland where you will pass a landscape looking like alpine pastures with high mountains around. In between lovely little lakes and an old city which is called Bad Aussee. **Characteristic:** You mainly cycle along cycle path but you also have to follow little side roads. Little ascents are between the lakes but there are not long. Medium fitness is necessary for this tour. Take some time and visit the little Museum about Mozarts family living in St. Gilgen. Afterwards you will cycle to lake Mondsee where you can visit the wedding church from the Sound of music movie! Along the lake Mondsee you will cycle to the biggest lake in the Lake District to lake Attersee. • Overnight in Unterrach or St. Georgen Day 3: Lake Attersee/Attergau – Lake Traunsee – city of Gmunden – Traunkirchen/Ebensee (40 – 45 km) The cycle trail between the lakes Attersee and Traunsee will be a little bit hilly but not too demanding. You will see little hamlets and farm houses and afterwards you will come to the wonderful lakeside city of Gmunden. Enjoy a little walk along the esplanade and later on a visit of the lake caste of Orth. Afterwards you will follow the cycle trail along lake Traunsee to Ebensee. • Overnight in Traunkirchen or Ebensee Day 4: Lake Traunsee – Bad Ischl – Lake Hallstatt/Word Heritage (30 – 40 km) You will follow the cycle trail along the river Traun to the former emperor city of Bad Ischl. Take some time to visit the emperor castle or taste the pastries in the famous café of Zauner. Afterwards you will continue following the cycle trail along the river Traun to the UNESCO World Heritage Region of Hallstatt. • Overnight in Bad Goisern or Hallstatt Day 5: Train to Tauplitz – Bad Aussee – Hallstatt (45 – 52 km) In the morning you will take the train to the Ausseerland which is well know for the daffodil festival in spring. You will cycle through a wonderful countryside and on both sides you will see hight mountains. Depending on your fitness you may cycle to Lake Grundlsee and afterwards to the little old city of Bad Aussee. Passing the wild valley of Koppental you will come to the famous village of Hallstatt which is a Unesco World Heritage side. Certainly one of the nicest lakeside village in Austria. • Overnight Bad Goisern or Hallstatt Day 6: Lake Hallstatt – Lake Wolfgangsee (30 – 45 km) You will follow the cycle trail along Lake Hallstatt and afterwards the brine pipeline trail to Bad Ischl.
